Ground Crew Resource Planning
Swissport use our Airport Rostering Optimisation Software (AROS) to optimise ground crew rosters and work schedules across APAC, leading to significant improvements in staff and equipment utilisation and reduced operational costs.
Business Need
Swissport APAC, a leading provider of airport ground services across the Asia Pacific region, faced significant challenges in manually creating and updating shifts to align with flight schedules for over 4000 staff and 50 carriers. This labour-intensive process consumed valuable time. Seeking a solution to replicate existing business rules and optimise shift scheduling, Swissport turned to Biarri.
Our Solution
Swissport needed a software solution to help them plan their workforce, with the aim of:
- minimising their labour costs through efficient rosters and task schedules,
- and increasing their workforce planning capacity without increasing their planner headcount.
Swissport and Biarri partnered to deliver AROS using a phased implementation approach, running multiple Test & Learn iterations and implementing AROS module-by-module to continuously deliver value.
The AROS application is now a fully-featured workforce planning solution. It allows Swissport planners to harness sophisticated optimisation engines which automate and optimise rosters and schedules at the touch of a button.
The AROS software helps Swissport schedulers to efficiently match resources with activity, while at the same time providing benefits in managing employee’s shift preferences and timely notification of rosters to staff.
The Results
Through implementation of the AROS software Swissport have realised significant improvements in staff and equipment utilisation and reduced operational costs.
The AROS software has now been used by Swissport APAC for nearly 10 years and continues to deliver benefit throughout the business.
