Stowage Planning
Our Vessel Packer solution is used by Qube to auto-plan and manage stowage on the Spirit of Tasmania vessels traversing the Bass Strait between Melbourne and Devonport, Australia.
Business Need
Qube is a leading provider of integrated logistics services, operating in over 200 locations across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. Qube manages port operations for TT-Line, the government-owned operator of the Spirit of Tasmania ferries that traverse the Bass Strait.
With daily or twice-daily sailings, both Qube and TT-Line face intense time pressure to safely and efficiently manage stowage of vessels while meeting their sailing schedules. In order to better manage risks and deliver an efficient service, Qube decided to digitise their stowage planning process.

Our Solution
By leveraging the Qube team’s operational expertise, Biarri was able to develop a robust cloud-based planning software that allows Qube planners to pre-plan stowage prior to sailing, and then manage the process of optimally loading roll-on roll-off cargo from the port yard onto the vessel.
The software is both tablet and desktop compatible with an easy-to-use, clear and concise interface allowing rapid planning and visibility of critical metrics (such as lane capacity, moment and arrival/discharge timestamps) at all times.
The software includes full integration to Carus CarRes™, and an auto-load AI feature, which automatically plans the optimal load plan for the vessel to maximise utilisation, minimise consumption, and meet moment and cargo constraints.
The Results
Qube has been using the Biarri Vessel Packer application in their daily operations since 2010. In 2020, Qube and Biarri modernised the application to support evolving business requirements. With the support of the Vessel Packer application, Qube are able to effectively manage operational risks and deliver an efficient service for TT Line.
